梵語婆羅門， 華言淨行。 或在家， 或出家， 世世相承， 以道學為業， 自稱是梵天苗裔， 守道居貞， 潔白其操， 故謂之淨行。

婆羅賀摩拏的簡稱， 為印度四姓之一， 華譯外意、 淨行、 淨志、 靜志等， 是奉事大梵天王而修淨行的種族。
